Common Terms Used Throughout Website
- Discharge is the measure of water flow. Surface water station are measured in cubic feet per second (cfs), and ground water stations are measured in gallons per minute (gpm).
- Gage Height is the measure of water level. Surface water stations are measured in feet (ft), and ground water stations are measured in feet below ground surface (ft bgs).
- Daily Average Flow Rate is the average of the flow values, in either cfs or gpm, for that day (from 00:00 to 23:59 hours). So as the flow values are updated with the newest timestamp value, the reported average will be updated based on the most current flow value.
- Daily Total Volume is the total volume, in acre-feet, for that day (from 00:00 to 23:59 hours). So as the flow values are updated with the newest timestamp value, the reported total will be updated based on the most current flow value.
- NR (Not Reported) indicates the value is not presently reported. Contact the appropriate district office for further information.

There are three basic units of water measurement used on this site. For water that is in motion, flow rates are measured in cubic feet per second (cfs) or gallons per minute (gpm). For water that is stored, impounded or diverted, total volumes are measured in acre-feet.
- 1 cfs = 1.983 acre-feet per day
- 1 gpm = 0.00442 acre-feet per day
